Friends of Whitecliffs Foreshore Reserve

Our Friends Group meets on the first Frday of every month from 10am- noon, at the beach car park opposite Flinders Street. You can also join the Friend of Tyrone Foreshore by contacting Terese Dalman, her details are in the poster below.

A Friends Group is a working bee that meets regularly to undertake a variety of tasks that will enhance our natural environment. These groups consist of like–minded individuals who hold an interest in protecting and enhancing a bushland or foreshore reserve. Regular working bees are undertaken in these reserves throughout the year, usually for a few hours each month. Groups participate in an array of activities from weeding, monitoring and planting.

Friends Groups are a great place to meet new friends, learn something new & contribute to your local community, whilst also being beneficial for mental & physical health. They also teach valuable skills and practical experience in the environmental sector that can build on tertiary education.

BeachPatrol

Passionate about conservation and motivated to volunteer within the community? Our Beach Patrol is for you! BeachPatrol is a litter collection volunteer group spread over many postcodes. Within each postcode, there is a group of locals who pick up litter from their beaches or streets or parks once a month. The litter is mostly plastic items. We want to stop them from getting into the ocean and prevent harm to wildlife. Collection data is saved on this site. The data collection and distribution is a key part of what BeachPatrol performs. We use this data to advocate for changes that will reduce litter:  raising awareness of littered beaches and streets and working with local and state governments to address this issue.
